5 Most Popular Questions About Making Charcuterie Boards

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

With so much buzz around charcuterie boards these days, there are a lot of questions that follow. We asked you to send in the questions you had for us about anything grazing and Shmore Boards and boy did you deliver. Here are the 5 most popular cheeseboard questions we received:

Is there anything that doesn’t belong on a board?

The “Board” concept has taken off far beyond charcuterie and cheese. Brunch boards, taco boards, dessert boards, slider boards and more are all Pinterest-approved and all the rage right now. Grazing boards are a work of art, and we'd never want to put someone in a creative box. The only stipulation we might put on creating a board is to stick with the appropriate items that fall within your theme, especially when your preparing it for guests.. We wouldn’t usually put marshmallows on a traditional cheese & charcuterie board, but on a kid’s or dessert board — go crazy.

What’s your favorite type of grazing board to make?

This is a hard one because all of our boards are so fun to create. Cheese and charcuterie boards have to be our all time favorite, because we fell in love with them first. The creative possibilities are endless when designing a traditional board which means the fun never stops. We also love designing our new releases and specialty boards for our clients. Innovative new ways to arrange delicious foods beautiful is hands down one of the best parts of our job.

What are the best cheeses to put on a cheese board?

If you’re ever stumped as to what to put on a board, there’s one word that comes to mind: variety. When you’re not sure of what guests will like, include at least three cheeses with different textures and flavor. We love an aged cheddar, brie & aged manchego combo because it covers hard and soft cheeses, while hitting a variety of flavors. Theres’s boldness in the cheddar, a nutty flavor from the manchego and buttery texture provided by the brie.

Can you make gluten-free substitutions?

Oh yeah! Everyone deserves to eat a cheeseboard and no dietary requirement should change that. We cater to nearly all dietary restrictions including but not limited to vegan, vegetarian, nut allergies, gluten-free, egg-free and no pork.
